Lets play a fun game. The aim is to put down our understanding of life in one sentence. What we write in our sentence should strictly be something we feel deep down within and not what someone else has said or felt.
Also, when we have a good number of entries, we can compile them into a lesson.
My take is: Life is a beautiful flower which takes time to blossom
Chandra, thanks for posting such a purposeful topic, relevant to this community. This one is really close to my heart. Though, it is a highly subjective issue and quite difficult to gather in just one sentence. Nonetheless, here is my take (and this is not taken from some where else):
“Life, especially the Human Life, is a transient phase, bestowed with the purpose to learn, realise and attain the ultimate and eternal state/source of TRUTH, KNOWLEDGE and BLISS (called “sachchiddananda” in Sanskrit), after which all the struggles cease.”
This is really a fantastic idea! While it’s hard to shrink all of life’s complexities into one simple sentence – I would have to make it:
“Life is a reflection of how you see yourself.”
Something that comes to mind is this, by playwright Samuel Beckett: “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.”
...in other words, don`t give up! :)
we just need 97 more and then we can publish our own self-help book :D
who knows, we might get the Nobel for “touching lives”!
Here is another one:
” Life is an eternal cycle, rather development of perspective from – nothing/nowhere (a layman’s perspective of the unknown) ...to… something/somewhere …to… everything/everywhere (a learned’s/wise man’s perspective of GOD) —> nothing/nowhere ….....”
thats a bit heavy, but a good one!
this has been in my head for quite a few weeks -
“life is a woman, who teases you, cajoles you, smiles, breaks your heart from time to time, but no matter what, you are enchanted by her beauty”
that sounds a bit romantic. but here’s some serious stuff again -
“Life, as generally called and understood, is a misnomer, being merely a reflection, in varying degrees, of the eternal pure consciousness through numerous forms (i.e human, animal, birds, plants …..) – the TRUE or the REAL LIFE starts when this reflection/shadow (usually perceived as life) merges into and becomes one with its source (i.e pure consciousness)”.
Life is as beautiful as you can think of and as ugly as you can make it.
So in short : “life is what you make it.”
LIfe is expectation…. spirit of learning new…

During lunch, I thought of something to add to this discussion. A true act of “Food for Thought”.

My take for the day – while you are the sailor, life is not the boat, life is not the sail, life is not the ocean, life is not the weather and life is not the destination – it is the journey!
The definition of Life is “Love Is For Ever”. Life therefore is a struggle in search of oneself in discovering and then living a meaningful, fruitful life with an ultimate aim of attainment of Moksha.
My take for the day – Life is a sum of days and it’s your attitude that makes ie either a vacation or incarceration!

Life is a circle, and love is it’s radius – the greater the love, the bigger life gets!

Hi friends continuing the some discussion I too wish to share my views regarding life. to me,
Life means progression , a journey towards perfection ; though , nobody is perfect here in this whole world but being a human being , as we possess knowledge and sensibility more than other animate objects, we should always try to reach towards a state of betterment .
I can’t believe I missed out on this conversation… you had some great ones up there everyone. I have a few ones to add:
