Hi Sharat, interesting topic. Happiness is a subjective issue in the sense that the same thing/circumstance/event/person etc. may be a cause of happiness for somebody, while being a cause of despair/worry for another person. In my opinion, happiness is basically a state of mind regarding how you feel about or react to a particular situation/event. That being so, it is also said to be possible to be always happy if we can change our attitude towards any set of situations, that is how we perceive the things and react to them. But, that’s easier said than done. It can take a life time or several life times to develop that sort of attitude to make us eternally happy. But don’t despair so long as u believe in this principle that your own mind or your attitude determines your own happiness and keep on trying with that in mind at all times and in all circumstances. :)

Sharat, I am going to go out on a philosophical limb here and say that we are not able to achieve eternal happiness. Of course that will now turn the discussion into a faith based debate about what happens to us when we die. If there is no after-life there can be no eternal anything attributed to human existence. If their is a continued posthumous existence then perhaps there is a chance for eternal happiness. Again more food for discussion if we can agree that happiness is effectively an emotion that is felt as a result of situational events then we have to presume that in order to be eternally happy we would have to be able to control the events we experience…….in the end I say there is no chance at eternal happiness are there are simply too many factors that impact happiness and are out of our control. Of course that does not mean that we can not choose to behave eternally happily….at the risk of being called Polyanna.
I definetly recomend Aaron Be-Ze’ev’s The Subtelty of Emotions as a great read to gain insight into emotions, how they occur and what impacts they have on us.

happiness, the pure internal pece of mind and soul. I must say today no one owns it. Becausese this world at one side is so what going farther and farther, inventing new luxuries each minute but unable to provide that happy touch to our souls. By chance anyone get that moment, it is not going to be last longer than few minutes-hours due to overwhelming of other matters relating to society and community. But that moment leaves a lasting effect that keeps us reminding of “to WAIT”, to wait for the next moment of same kind.

Our sweet & pleasant dreams tells us what we desire & achieving it gives us happiness at our consciousness. Besides there is happiness hidden in ourselves somewhere that could be explored by our spiritual thoughts or guided by spiritual leaders. This is what I know

come on guys, surely you can’t achieve happiness without chocolate, or pasta, depending on your preferences, or rice maybe, on a good day?
